Description:

The Olancho Aid Foundation is seeking a qualified, bilingual school psychologist to volunteer at its bilingual primary and middle school, Santa Clara.

Primary responsibilities include:

1. Provides personal counseling for students related to emotional, social and academic concerns
2. Works as a team member with school principal and learning support staff to provide coordinated student services
3. Evaluates referred students with social/emotional/behavioral problems which affect optimal academic progress
4. Serves as a liaison between the school and home
5. Administers or facilitates the administration of particular psychological and/or educational assessments
6. Assists with orientation programs for new students
7. Provides expertise to parents and staff in developing relationships and
communication with students
8. Designs and delivers development and intervention programs for individuals and groups of students
9. Assists in the progression of students including the transition from Primary to Secondary School with particular assistance for those students who may require specific support
10. Serves as a resource and provides advice to staff on child and adolescent development and social, emotional and behavioral issues
11. Works closely with the school principal and other staff to share
relevant student development and intervention information
12. Carries out other responsibilities as designated by the principal or Foundation Director.

Minimum education requirements:
BA/BS in psychology specializing in children or adolescents

Requires a commitment of at least 10 months (the duration of a full school year) from August 24, 2010 - end of June 2011. 2 year commitment preferred. Strong command of Spanish required; fluency preferred. Minimum of 2 years working with children or adolescents required.

Monthly stipend and housing will be provided.
