Description:
The Membership Chair is responsible for the following, either directly or through oversight of other volunteers:
1. Promotes membership by working with the Board to publicize the Chapter in a variety of ways in the community;
2. Maintaining the membership database on a monthly basis, including National Audubon Society and local members;
3. Printing monthly mailing labels for newsletter labeling;
4. Providing any name, address and other membership changes to National Audubon, as necessary;
5. Assisting National Audubon members in resolving problems concerning their membership;
6. Sending membership information to prospective new members;
7. Sending Welcome Letters to all new members;
8. Sending Renewal Letters to local members;
9. Act as greeter on behalf of the Chapter on Membership Meeting nights:
10. Create nametags for all new members who attend Membership Meetings;
11. Oversee the following chairs and committees:
a. Events Coordinator’;
b. Hospitality Committee;
c. Membership Database
d. Program Night Coordinator;
e. Volunteer Coordinator; and
f. Welcome Committee.
Requirements: Willingness to work as a team member and share ideas openly with other Board members, staff and volunteers. Also willingness to actively participate in Chapter activities and to act as an Eastside Audubon ambassador is necessary. Strong initiative and decision-making skills are necessary for this position. We are looking for someone with a great attitude and a desire to help the Chapter succeed. We want someone who can jump right in and show leadership.

You will work with the Board President, the Executive Director and volunteers, and report directly to the Board of Directors.

We encourage our leaders to be creative in their role, to involve other volunteers and the community in their work, and to develop strategies and procedures to make their job easier.
The Board of Directors is a hands-on Board. Each chair is responsible for the duties assigned to his or her position. Other duties may include serving on a committee, fundraising and special events. The Board meets once per month to set priorities and manage the policy and financial responsibilities of the Chapter. Board members are also required to attend monthly Program Meetings and biennial retreats. Primary qualifications to serve on the Board are concern for and dedication to the cause of environmental protection. Prior Board experience is not necessary, but a willingness to act as an Eastside Audubon ambassador is crucial.
Board members are expected to make an annual, personally significant monetary donation to the Chapter. All levels of help and support are appreciated.
