Description:

Watching America (www.watchingamerica.com) is currently seeking volunteer translators to translate foreign news stories in Dutch about the United States into English. You do not need prior translating experience to do this. You must be available to find and translate at least one article every two weeks. Applicants will be asked to translate a test article. While this is a volunteer position, it allows for flexibility in regards to how much or how little you would like to work above the one article per two week minimum, helps build your resume, comes with an offer of a solid letter of recommendation from Robin Koerner, president and owner of Watching America, and gets your name on an internationally acclaimed website. Any new ideas you may have for the project are welcome!

Watching America (WatchingAmerica.com) is an internationally renowned website that translates foreign news about the U.S. from all over the world, to enable Americans to see how they and their policies are perceived globally. Over its five years of existence, it has gained mainstream recognition in the U.S. and abroad and has been talked about, among others, by the BBC, NPR, Foreign Policy Magazine, The Guardian and The Village Voice. It depends on a team of volunteers who benefit from the prestige of the project in developing their careers elsewhere, and who have a passion for the idea of breaking down the final barrier among peoples of the world - the language barrier.

How to Apply:

Contact Robin Koerner (robink@watchingamerica.com) with a blurb of interest, if interested!
