Charity CHAMPS is a non-profit organization with a mission of encouraging public engagement in micro-philanthropy. The website www.charitychamps.org promotes charitable giving by enabling micro-donations of as little as a penny a day ($3.65 a year), and promotes micro-philanthropy by partnering with click-to-donate websites. Micro-donations and click-to-donate actions will be rewarded with whimsical CHAMPS-themed characters and character upgrades. Using games and Web 2.0 interactivity, www.charitychamps.org will educate members and inspire them by demonstrating that small actions of individuals can achieve large goals.

We are currently looking for an individual to join our dynamic, part-time volunteer-based team as graphics illustrator. The ideal candidate has a passion for making a difference and relishes the opportunity to be a part of a new and exciting start-up.

Minimum commitment to complete illustrations for first iteration of the CHAMPS characters (or avatars), which are a key part of our strategy.

Responsibilities

• Design and create fun Charity CHAMPs character (avatar) images, including character upgrades such as cars and side-kicks.
  
• Work in conjunction with website designers to ensure that overall CHAMPS look-and-feel is consistent across the avatars and the website.
  
• Possible work of designing “villain” characters to juxtapose the champions in the Charity CHAMPs world, where the villains represent things combated through donations (eg. plastic bottles for pollution and dirty water for poor sanitation).
  
• Contribute to overall Charity CHAMPS strategy by providing input on website and as applicable.
  

Qualifications

• A passion for contributing to the success of Charity CHAMP's mission.
  
• A strong portfolio of computer-based graphical and design work.
  
• Expertise with Adobe Suite, especially Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  
• Great written and verbal communication skills.
  

Additional assets

• Knowledge of Adobe Flash.
  
• Experience with avatar and/or game design.
  
• Experience with CMS software such as Joomla.
  
• Sense of humour.
  
• Love of comics and hero characters.
