Description:
Volunteer as a Big Sister to a little girl or a boy that needs a friend and a role model. Your time and friendship will give your Little Sister or Little Brother a positive environment to learn, build a healthy personality, have fun, and engage with you about their life. Being a Big Sister is personally rewarding and a great way to volunteer on your own schedule, for just a few hours a week. Have fun doing activities you both like… cook dinner, watch the sea lions, go to the boardwalk, dance, play imagination, read or just hang out for an afternoon.
Our volunteers come from all ages and backgrounds. They simply want to make a difference and have fun at the same time. Youth mentoring is your chance to become an encouraging friend and role model to a child who needs you in their life.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Santa Cruz County has provided quality mentoring services to youth for more than 25 years. Experience has shown us that children matched with caring volunteer mentors develop an amazing sense of belonging and renewed self-confidence. This often leads to better communication skills in their personal life, and improved performance at home, at school, and in the community.
