Description:
This Project is conducted by non profit organizations in low income communities (favelas) . The groups are formed by women from the communities interested to help with the social and financial development..
The groups receive help from some volunteers to develop their activities. To reach their goals they have different types of activities and also support the AIDS and DST prevention group (health promotion) through educative campaigns, comdoms distribution, workshops for the community and public schools, “health promotion street stand” where they talk with people on the street about AIDS/STD and distribute condoms .
Besides the prevention group the Project already developed extra classes for children and Painting fabrics lessons for women.
In addition, the Projrcts are open to suggestions from potential volunteers that are interested in formatting a unique project that caters to the volunteer’s unique skills and fulfills the organization objectives. Such projects will need to demonstrate formative progression for the beneficiaries or to the infrastructure of the organization, like a mural, or a sculpture, or other.
Volunteers will work, approximately 20 hours per week.
