Description:
The United Nations Association of Southern New York Division (UNA- SNY) Young Professionals for International Cooperation (YPIC) Human Rights Committee is accepting new members who have an interest in human rights and can commit to meeting with the group at least twice a month to help plan programs to spread awareness of global human rights topics. Human Rights Committee Mission:
By exploring the linkages of human rights laws and programs, the Human Rights Committee will evaluate how to further advance the goals and programs that prevent discrimination, uphold political and cultural freedom and equality under the law, and protect women and youth from inhumane and unjust conduct. Supporting international laws and principals that advance human rights, UN mechanism and respected human rights organizations, the Human Rights Committee will ensure their understanding and meaning to the public and to the people we aim to protect and value.
Through research, discussion, and program development, the Human Rights Committee aspires to help raise the voices of women and youth who have suffered injustices globally. With determination, dedication, and a passion for peace and justice, the Human Rights Committee hopes to improve the well being and equal opportunity of women and youth.
