Description:

Individuals applying for this position should have a strong interest in developing ways to engage the community, particularly young people. Individuals should be organized, personable, and have good follow-through. Ideal candidates will have experience running student groups on college campuses and already have established networks that could potentially be utilized to support Emerge Global.

Responsibilities include, though are not limited to:
• Create Emerge “Chapter Toolkits” that enable university and high school students to get involved with Emerge Global’s activities by providing all needed materials (background information about Emerge Global, descriptions of the ways in which individuals and groups can get involved, etc.)
• Oversee student outreach, including identifying and engaging at least 4 new college and high school chapters by mid-Fall 2009 as well as providing support to existing relationships
• Work with the Sales and Marketing Officer to engage student chapters in conducting Emerge Global jewelry sales
• Develop a way to solicit volunteer support for specific Emerge-related tasks online and to sort these tasks by skill, group size, location, etc.
• Coordinate and oversee the activities of short-term volunteers in the US
• Identify and investigate like-minded organizations with whom Emerge Global could potentially collaborate and/or share best practices or resources
• Manage and expand our online social networking presence, including the maintenance of Emerge Global’s future social networking community
• Develop and oversee the Emerge Sponsorship Program, a program that connects individuals to girls in the Emerge Bead Program. This includes:
- Developing sponsorship materials, such as introductory packets, periodic updates, and a yearly sponsorship booklet
- Facilitating interaction between sponsors and the girls throughout the year
- Ensuring that sponsors are up-to-date on the happenings of the organization as a whole

Time commitment: 10-15 hours/week
