Description:

The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum in Boston seeks enthusiastic individuals who are interested in history and working with the public to join the docent program. Docents facilitate museum learning for visitors of all ages including students, adults and families. Duties may include, but are not limited to, conducting highlights programs, giving informal gallery talks and facilitating hands-on activities. Benefits include access to a library with resource materials, free parking, a museum store discount, free or discounted admission to area cultural institutions, and the opportunity to meet others interested in history and museums. Training occurs annually and is provided by museum staff.

Qualifications: Applicants to the docent program must be 21 years of age or older and be able to attend required training sessions September - November 2009. Experience or education in history, political science, or teaching is helpful, but not required. After training is complete, docents commit to working for one full year. Weekday and weekend shifts available.
