Description:
Pax Christi International is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to fulfil a volunteer position for the period of, preferably, one calendar year, focusing mainly on Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Any applicant must be willing and able to execute a variety of tasks associated with the work of the international secretariat, ICT being of prime importance.
These include:
* Assist staff with office suits and other software and hardware problems.
* Keep track of all the technical software and hardware and verify invoices.
* Maintain the client computers and make sure servers and copy machines are in working condition.
* Maintain the backup and anti virus system
* Maintain the user- and email accounts in the Domain.
Required Qualifications:
* Bilingual (French, English) Dutch is an asset.
* Excellent knowledge of Microsoft windows XP operating system as well as office suits. Excellent knowledge means you have to be able to provide technical support and well as be able to use it.
* Some experience with MySQL and PHP: This experience can be replaced by experience of working with similar programs, for instance Access, VC VB or Java. You need to be able to read at least the codes and make necessary changes, if you can not really create your own.
* Experience with windows 2003 (SBS) server
* Some knowledge of exchange server is an asset.
* Ability to think creatively and focus on details.
* Ability to solve problems independently.
* Patience.
* A desire to work in a non profit, non governmental, international organisation that promotes peace and social justice.
In addition, Candidates Must be Willing
* To attend occasional weekend and evening meetings
* To make a commitment of several months
* Start as soon as possible (July 2009 the 1st)
