Description:
Loreto Vietnam Australia Program (LVAP) is a registered international non-government organization committed to disadvantaged, poor and/or disabled children in Vietnam. Our projects center on creating purposeful learning environments to provide educational support for children and their school community with a vision of ‘lifting learners into the future’. We are seeking a Volunteer to join our team in the role of English teacher at a School for the Blind based in Ho Chi Minh City who is committed to sharing our vision. The Volunteer will play a valuable role in the overall development of vision impaired children, which include totally blind and low vision students ranging between 6 years to 17 years old. The role will entail working autonomously to conduct interactive and effective English lessons with the supported text books and learning materials provided, and also with the freedom and encouragement to utilize personal teaching experiences and creativity to enhance learning.
This volunteer role is suitable for candidates who:
• is a native English speaker
• has TEFOL qualifications and previous teaching experience with children
• is enthusiastic, self-motivated and mature
• is open-minded and adaptable to cultural sensitivities and the local lifestyle
• shares passion and is committed to values and principles of volunteerism
The placement is for a minimum of 6 months and requires a total of 15-20 hours of class contact per week with flexibility to be involved in the activities of other LVAP projects from time to time. Volunteer arrangements will include a allowance to assist with accommodation and basic living expenses, travel insurance and a visa. Airfare expenses and all other costs are expected to be self-funded by the volunteer.
