Description: Licensed Dental Hygiene Care is a start up non profit that brings dental hygiene services to a neglected and often forgot about population; seniors residing in long term care facilities. Many assume seniors have lost their teeth and wear dentures. Will you be wearing dentures? Most likely not. In skilled nursing, manual dexterity has been lost or limited to the point that daily oral hygiene is dependent on the staff. Our mission is to provide these professional services at the facilities regardless of their finacial resources.
Being a start up, professional volunteers are greatly needed in helping us get the word out about our services.
Following is a description of needed volunteer opportunities:

Help Making Decisions About a Web Page
1) Experience working on and improving existing websites in terms of efficiency, content, functionality, and design
2) Willingness to consult with organization and suggest improvements for our website

Advice on Web Hosting
1) Familiarity with different options for hosting websites
a. Which ones offer more visibility? Which are better for small local organizations? Organizations with a greater scope?
2) Ability to give advice with regards to pricing, available space, and expected traffic of different hosting options

Web Designer
1) Familiarity with web design programs (Dreamweaver)
2) Can assist in integrating organization's logo, banner, and other graphics with it's website

***3) Can create manual for future management of website and continued development of online prescence

Blogger
Knowledge of various different ways to establish an online prescence (blogs, independent .org site, social network, host sites) and ability to advise which one would best fit the organization´s goals and profile (audience, media, visibility, public vs. private, etc)

1) Familiarity with creating blogs and various blogging services (Blogger, Wordpress, free vs. paid)
2) Ability to assist in deciding what content is most appropriate for organization's blog and advise on attracting the greatest number of readers
3) Ability to explain pros and cons of establishing a blog if one doesn't already exist (target audience, appropriate content, etc.)Social

Networking Advice (Groups, Pages, Permissions, Privacy)
1) Familiarity with various social networking sites (Facebook, MySpace, Twitter)
2) Can assist organization in creating pages on one or more popular online social networks and explain the basic concepts of each (ie. concise, instantaneous info sharing on Twitter)
3) Can explain the pros and cons of establishing a prescence on a social network and advise which one would best fit the organization´s goals and profile (audience, media, visibility, public vs. private, etc)

Graphic Designer / Marketing Specialist
1) Can assist organization in designing appropriate and catchy logos or banners
2) Knowledge of various graphic design programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Creative Suite
3) Can create basic manual of use for key graphic design programs (see above) to guide future modifications

Qualifications:
* Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
* Ability to work with detailed and confidential information
* Self starter
* Ability to meet deadlines and work in a timely fashion
* Preferred: Flash Programming
* A minimum six month commitment is required for all Volunteer positions

Compensation: This is a volunteer position. There will be no financial compensation. Volunteer will receive experience within this career field, acknowlegement on the web site and an exceptional letter of recommendation. If you are located within Colorado Springs and in need of a dental cleaning, that will be available at no charge.
