With a brand new Community Development Center opened and bustling in Sembalun, Lombok, Indonesia we’re looking for cheerful souls like you to share your world of knowledge with the villagers.

Our goal is simple; we want to help prepare this happy, little village for tourism and the best way to start is to teach them English and everyday life skills. Because Sembalun is at the base of the famous volcano, Mt. Rinjani, a bulk of villagers make their living farming its rich soil and taking tourists to the top of its amazing summit. But the villagers can’t expand their visitor base until they learn English - and that’s where you come in.

You’ll spend time chatting them up about anything and everything English! You’ll learn about our organic farming initiative and tour the fields; you’ll meet Tindih, the local carpenter whom, with tools provided by 4WL, has started his own little business; you’ll visit Harti the strawberry farmer and his wife and mother who practice the ancient art of weaving; you’ll meet the kids who’ve had successful cleft palate surgeries; you’ll soak up the village culture through a pick up soccer game and the list is endless.

We make it simple from suggesting flights, to coordinating ground transportation, to planning the perfect affordable homestay, to connecting you with a personal guide.
Am, our field coordinator on the island of Lombok, and Royal our local coordinator in the village of Sembalun will be at your service and will make sure you have everything you need for an amazing and unforgettable volunteer experience.
