Description:

Vegetarian Forest Temple Opportunity
with Mundo Exchange Organization

Mundo Exchange volunteers wanting to experience true Buddhist life are now able to go for 1 week or more to a beautiful forest wat just outside of BuengKan. This temple overlooks the Mekong River. Both men and women live as vegetarians, plant their own gardens, and make herbal medicines. They teach others from Thailand and other countries about their holistic ways.

These Buddhists eat once a day and then drink fruit juices, soy products and such. They are a relaxed, well read and a peaceful group working to educate people about Thai simple Buddhist life.

The volunteers day would include the following:

*Getting up around 4 in the morning to start your day.
•Thai meditation, chanting, and breakfast
•Rest and then 3 hours of organic and herbal gardening, Thai cooking, temple assistance in library or other areas
•1 hour of helping nuns and monks learn conversational English
•Meditative walking
•Meditative chanting and quiet time with others in temple
•Sleep around 9 PM

There is plenty of free time to write, draw, meditate, and read about religious and cultural ways in Isan. Volunteers live in a small home with mosquito net, fan and nearby bath.

Volunteers may also stay at our volunteer center and go each morning to meditate, help the monks and nuns with temple gardening and conversational English.

One of your Mundo hosts will go with you to start this Thai volunteer experience and teach you the ways of this unique type of temple life.

It is a wonderful opportunity for volunteers wanting to experience meditation, herbal gardening and the simple life of Isan, Thailand that only living in a temple can provide.

Your fee includes transportation to placement, place to live, daily Thai lessons, orientation, Welcome and Good Bye Dinners, cultural lessons, and English teaching materials, temple assistance and payment to your Thai hosts who help you during your stay.
