CASA de Maryland Synopsis:
CASA de Maryland’s primary mission is to work with the community to improve the quality of life and fight for equal treatment and full access to resources and opportunities for low-income Latinos and their families. CASA works with other low-income immigrant communities, makes its programs and activities available to them, and joins with other organizations to advocate for social, political, and economic justice for all low-income communities.

Department Synopsis: Development raises funds and in-kind contributions from foundations, government agencies, individuals, corporations, congregations, unions, and partner organizations to ensure CASA's financial sustainability. Development is responsible for involving donors and supporters in CASA activities, engaging them as partners, and making them feel like a part of CASA. Development works with Board members as they give their time and financial contributions, and manages and recruits members for a Development Advisory Committee, comprised of individuals who make significant contributions to CASA and attract additional funds for CASA's "Building for the Future” Capacity Building Campaign.

Position Synopsis: CASA seeks a bright, motivated intern to join our development team. The intern will be an integral member of the development team and will learn skills and gain experience in grant writing and reporting, event planning, fundraising through new media (i.e. social networks), foundation research, and fundraising with individuals. The intern will also have exposure to advocacy and policy issues affecting CASA’s community, will gain experience in program design and evaluation, and will support CASA’s grant management system.

Hours: schedule flexible Monday-Friday daytime, minimum of 20 hours/week

Salary: Unpaid Internship
Time Period Flexible – minimum 3 month commitment, start date as soon as September 14th

Duties/ Responsibilities: Specific duties include:

- Research potential funding sources
- Collect information from programs about accomplishments, draft and update templates for proposals and reports.
- Assist in drafting letters of support, proposals, and/or reports to funders.
- Develop, maintain, and grow CASA’s online social networks
- Explore fundraising strategies through social networking
- Assist in the development of articles for CASA’s monthly e-newsletter.
- Assist in organizing and implementing bulk mail solicitations
- Organize information for CASA’s “Buy A Brick” campaign.
- Prepare presentation materials for meetings
- Track media hits, maintain CASA’s press archives
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: - Minimum GPA 3.0 if currently in school
- Internships available for both current and graduated high school or college students
- Strong project management skills, ability to manage multiple tasks
- Strong writing skills required.
- Excellent computer and technology skills – thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office required, experience in database software & website development software a plus.
- Highly organized, high level of attention to detail.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred; French a plus.
- Positive attitude, ability to work in teams
- Supportive of CASA’s mission.
