Description:
Would you like to be part of a team that is building a very cool website for a new high tech environmental nonprofit? Our goal is to get onto Oprah and into Wired Magazine. You are invited to join us for the ride and be a part of the core creative team that achieves this goal. Target launch: Feb 2010.
WHO WE ARE:
EcoReserve is an environmental nonprofit startup based in Francisco. Our mission is to restore and protect endangered land, support sustainable livelihoods, and spawn a new grassroots movement for individual land conservation by providing an engaging online platform for individuals of any means to create their own private nature reserves around the world. Our website uses the Google Maps API, high resolution aerial imagery, and robust educational and social networking features to create a close, personal experience of connecting with land and people far away. Our first reserve is on 5,000 acres in the Panamanian rainforest.
Outside of one FT staff member, EcoReserve is being designed and built entirely by volunteers! We have been blessed with the generous involvement of talented individuals and firms such as Organic (web design), Cogniance (tech), and O’Melveny & Myers (legal).
SKILLS NEEDED:
We are primarily seeking senior level people who can devote 20-40 hours/week for 1-3 months, depending on the position. These are meaty, career-building positions and we are happy to provide professional references. We are also happy to hear from mid-level people or those who cannot devote as much time.
MARKETING & PR VOLUNTEER POSITION(S):
- Create and executive a professional marketing campaign focused on social networking and blogosphere
- Create marketing collateral - letterhead, 2-page handouts, etc. using design created for us by Organic
- Create a "wow" powerpoint presentation.
- Advise on development of website's edu-tainment content
- Manage marketing volunteer team effort
- Much more.
These tasks may be filled by more than one volunteer. If you have great skills for just one of these areas, please apply! We'd like to hear from you.
TIMEFRAME:
The marketing volunteer position(s) will start immediately and will run until at least March.
LOCATION:
We are located in downtown San Francisco. If you are local, you will be able to work at our office and join us for team meetings. You may also work at home, as desired. Remote volunteers are also welcome to apply. You can participate in team meetings by Skype.
