The After school activity leader (or Resident Activity Leader- RAL) will be working with The National Farm Workers Service Center (NFWSC) and will serve as part-time Americorps* Direct Member. This position will assist in the program implementation of the Casa Amelia Cadena Si Se Puede Learning Center which is located on a NFWSC affordable housing property in Shafter, CA (near Bakersfield). The Learning Center’s primary focus is to provide educational services for youth, grades kindergarten through 5th grade. The Learning Center operates during the school year Monday through Thursday from 3:00-6:00 p.m and Friday from 3:00-4:30 p.m. . RALs must attend a mandatory training/orientation on October 3rd & 4th.

The position will include the following responsibilities:

• Assist children with their daily homework.
• Implement the learning Center’s daily planned activities.
• Implement the Kidzlit and Kidzmath Curriculum.
• Support and implement a classroom positive reinforcement plan.
• Assist in implementing technology activities for children and teens.
• Assist in planning character building activities that focus on monthly themes.
• Participate in weekly center meetings.

Position funded by Americorps Direct. Minimum Time members will receive a small living stipend of $2500/ 6 mo ($416/ mo). Upon completion of service will receive $1000 Education Award.
