Description:

Top Drawer Thrift Store is a wild, fun, donation-driven thrift store on Burnet Rd in Austin. All proceeds benefit Project Transitions, a local HIV/AIDS services organization. For more info on our agency and our services, see: http://projecttransitions.org

Top Drawer Thrift is seeking many types of volunteers:

-Creative merchandisers who have an eye for design and color, to transform our average windows into stunning displays as well as arranging vignettes around the store.

-Scrubbers and dusters willing to vacuum, wipe down surfaces, sweep and clean to keep the thrift store shiny.

-Clothing pricers who like sitting down and pricing all the clothing that goes out into the store while listening to music of their choice.

-Donation pickup volunteers who have a truck or van and would like to occasionally pick up furniture items or household goods from donors around Austin and bring them to the store.

-Event interns who can handle the marketing/PR and details of small events held at different junctures throughout the year.

-General volunteers who are willing to come in, see what is needed at the store, and get going on it.

-Community outreach interns who would like to liaison with local retail stores and establish donation relationships between those stores and Top Drawer.

Top Drawer has flexible volunteer scheduling, a wide range of available hours (the store is open Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 7 pm), and ever-changing merchandise. It's a fun place to volunteer, shop or donate!

Volunteers at Top Drawer volunteer a minimum of 6 hours a month but can volunteer for as many beyond that as they want (we have one volunteer who does about 50 hours a month).

How to Apply:

Contact Callie Thompson, the Project Transitions Volunteer Coordinator, at: cthompson@projecttransitions.org, or call our offices at: 512.454.8646

Top Drawer volunteers go through a 1.5 hour orientation before they schedule their first shift. Orientations are held at Top Drawer (4902 Burnet Rd., ph: 512.454.5161) once a month, each month. Each orientation is from 5:30 pm to 7 pm.

Upcoming orientations (call Callie to sign up):

-Wednesday, October 7th (5:30 pm to 7 pm)
-Wednesday, November 4th (5:30 pm to 7 pm)
-No orientation in December because of our large winter fundraiser, Holiday Swing.

We're looking forward to having your help!
