The CFI Community of Portland is a fast-growing community of skeptics, atheists/agnostics/"nones", secular humanists, rationalists, and others who embrace science and free inquiry. Regional Centers for Inquiry are communities of free thinkers that work with academics, business and civic leaders, and the public to culturally advance the use of science and reason to understand the world. Duties
* Report to the board in order to coordinate our volunteer efforts and activities.
* Ensuring board objectives are implemented across the various volunteer efforts.
* Rallying new and existing volunteers to an objective.
* Retaining volunteers.
* Making sure the board is responsive to the needs of of those giving their time.
This volunteer (unpaid) position requires someone who is well put together and who cares about advancing science, reason, and secular values in the Pacific Northwest. As a volunteer position, you set the limits for how much you can administrate at any given time. It's not a full-time position, but rather one that you fit into your life as you can. You don't need to micromanage every detail. This is a "big picture" job, but one that requires paying attention to the details on an as-needed basis.
Sample volunteer-run efforts presently include the CFI Community of Portland Book Group, the Secular Parenting Meetup, the Beaverton Atheists Meetup, Secular Humanists of East Portland, and the CFI Discussion Group, and other efforts.
For this unpaid position you must be comfortable with using computers generally and feel comfortable with the Internet and email as a means of communication.
