Description:
Description: Eco Volunteer UP Foundation is a non-profit organization.
Projects: Orphanages, Medical centre, Social Work, and Teaching assistants
* Orphanages
Volunteers have the chance to tutor and/or teach English to the children while developing relationships with the boys, who very often do not have a family of their own outside of the orphanage.
Serving as mentors and teachers, volunteers work Monday through Friday for 2-3 hours in the morning and/or afternoon to help support the growth of the children while enjoying themselves at the same time.
The volunteer work in the morning is usually a mixture of academics and free time, and in the afternoon, the boys do arts and crafts and play. Volunteers often stay longer after finishing their teaching in order to talk, play, and spend time with the boys. (minimum time 3 weeks)
* Social Work
The organization sponsors and finances the after-school program for approximately 35 children. Although activities vary from day to day, the volunteers usually teach English, math, arts, etc, for an hour and then play outside for an hour with various games and toys that the organization provides.
The children are very kind and eager to learn, making the work at the school very enjoyable. It is a very fun experience for both the children and volunteers as they develop relationships and spend time learning from each other.
Many people wonder what they can bring for the children in the various programs or for the organization. We need notebooks, pencils, erasers, paper and other office utensils for all the different work areas special for the village. This is a list of a few things that can be useful, but anything you believe to be helpful will be very useful to us. Donations don't have to be new. (minimum time 2 weeks)
* Teaching assistants
This is due to the lack of essential native speakers, especially in rural areas, towns and small cities. For that reason, the organization with the crucial support network of the volunteers, will be able to improve this problem substantially over time.
The organization offers volunteers an opportunity to work with children from the ages of 06-16 as teaching assistants in different colleges in the city, towns and small villages of Peru highlands.
This resource will allow students to improve their fluency in English and to rekindle their interest by practicing it with native speakers. (minimum time 2 weeks)
* Medical centre
The medical centre is a 20-minute bus ride from the city center. The program coordinates volunteer placements depending on the volunteer's goals and career aspirations. All of the staff at the medical centre is very accommodating and flexible, and they will do everything possible to make sure the volunteer's work is appropriate and meaningful.
Volunteers are provided the opportunity to work in virtually all areas of the medical centre, which includes:
- Vaccination campaigns
- Pediatrics
- Obstetrics
- Emergency department
- Tuberculosis treatment
- Hospitalization care
- Motor stimulation and development
- Social services
(minimum time 2 weeks)
Typically, volunteers work from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. A working knowledge of Spanish is necessary; if you feel your Spanish abilities need improvement; daily lessons are available through the organization according to your needs.
Highlights: Aims
