Description:
The American Red Cross of NENY needs your help! With the help of trained volunteers, we give comfort and care to more than 1,000 people after hundreds of disasters each year in our eight county service area. How do we do it? We have Disaster Action Teams trained and ready to assist in a local event such as a home fire, ice storm or flood. Volunteer will lead the Disaster Action Team (DAT) at the scene during a local disaster to ensure the clients are appropriately taken care of. On call duties include providing emergency food, clothing and shelter to victims of disaster. Training provided. Volunteers are asked to commit to covering one week (12 hour shifts) every two months.
