Description:
Free After School Program
Volunteers Needed
We are launching a new FREE after school program for the children of Bushwick Brooklyn. The community is in the process of diversifying and housing more artist and is also largely Hispanic so Spanish speakers are a plus but not necessary. We are looking for teaching artists who would be happy to offer to these children for free the following lessons:
Dance (of all kinds)
Acting/Theater
Martial Arts
Yoga for kids
Fensing
Music (vocal & instrumental)
Arts & Crafts
Movie Buffs - to teach classical children's film history (we have a small movie theater)
Poetry/Slam
We would also be interested in those willing to volunteer time as Program Managers/Organizers that can lend a hand in jump starting this program. We are set to begin in December 2009. It is our hope to develop a track record within the community that will lead to successful funding down the road. It would only be a 1 1/2 hour class per week/per subject. Classes would take place at our center located inside the new artist community known as Castle Braid www.castlebraid.com. Please consider contributing time to these children because it can only enhance their lives.
