Description:
The Environmental Law Institute (ELI) seeks two law school graduates or junior attorneys to work pro bono with ELI staff as part of ELI’s Climate and Energy Program. Those selected to work on the program will be incorporated into ELI as full-time ELI staff devoted to researching climate and energy topics, writing policy papers, drafting model statutory language, helping to propose state, federal, and international initiatives to address the causes of climate change, and networking with ELI partners active in the climate and energy arena. There will be opportunities to work in other ELI program areas as well.
In response to the need for staff to address climate and energy issues and to respond to the economic downturn, ELI has created these positions to help enlist law school graduates who may be deferring from their law firms for a year and law firm associates who may be seeking pro bono opportunities, as well as others interested in volunteering. These positions are for one year and are not paid. The preferred starting date is January 2010, although earlier starting dates may be available. ELI senior staff will supervise the individuals working on the program.
For three decades, the Environmental Law Institute (ELI) has played a pivotal role in shaping the fields of environmental law, policy, and management, both domestically and internationally. ELI’s mission is to protect the environment by improving law, policy, and management. For more information visit http://www.eli.org.
Qualifications: (1) superior research and writing skills; (2) strong academic performance; and (3) a demonstrated interest in environmental law and policy.
How to Apply:
Applications: Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume (including law school and undergrad GPAs), list of references, ELI’s employment application (available at http://www2.eli.org/pdf/eli_job_application_form.pdf), and a writing sample. Please reference Position #091117. Application materials should be submitted to: law@eli.org. Applications for the positions are due on a rolling basis.
ELI is an equal opportunity employer strongly committed to providing equal opportunity and to achieving an inclusive, diverse workforce that values every individual. Minority candidates are encouraged to apply.
