Description:

The New Prosperity Initiative is a Boston-based nonprofit organization that pairs storytelling with new media to publicize the efforts of people and organizations doing socially innovative work to end poverty and build prosperity.

NPi hosts quarterly community dialogues, networking events, and fundraisers. The Event Coordinator will assist NPi staff in planning and executing the above-mentioned events. Estimated time commitment would be 5-10 hours a month.

Responsibilities include:
• Assist with negotiations for space contracts and book event space; arrange food and beverage, order supplies and audiovisual equipment.
• Propose new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process.
• Assist with managing on-site production and clean up for events as necessary.
• Assist with preparation of nametags, materials, directional signs, gift bags; registration lists, etc.

The ideal candidate should have a passion for social justice, community change, the non-profit community, and media.
As well as:
• Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with high professionalism.
• Willingness to think critically and solve problems
• Strong organizational ability and detail-oriented approach
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, and strong typing skills
• Ability to work independently
