ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:

Abraham House offers the incarcerated and their relatives a place of hope and community, where lives can be rebuilt, families mended, lessons learned, and men, women and children deeply marked by crime receive spiritual, social and practical tools to become productive citizens.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Residential Aide is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents, staff and guests of the Abraham House.  The Residential Aide will provide supervision and crisis intervention services to residential clients.  Under the supervision of the Director of The Alternative to Incarceration program, the Residential Aide will be responsible for the following

JOB TASKS: 

• Monitor all residents and guests entering and leaving the building.
• Document all activities in the communication log book.
• Regularly monitor resident floor, rooms and administrative offices.
• Intervene in crisis situations and provide appropriate support when necessary.
• Prepare and maintain accurate and complete progress notes, records, and reports in accordance with policies of agency, funding and regulatory bodies.
• Assist with compliance monitoring activities by monitoring curfew compliance and adherence to program regulations. Document in the log and inform the program staff of residence non-compliance.
• Conduct an orientation to the building for all residents (i.e. emergency exits, procedures for trash removal, laundry, etc.).
• Take toxicology screenings of clients.
• Attend staff meetings.
• Perform data entry duties.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Facilitate support groups.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma, equivalency or related experience
• Certified in CPR and First Aid a plus
• Two years of direct work experience in an organization serving similar client populations
•  Must be Bi-lingual (English-Spanish) . 
• Please note: this is an night position (which may include weekends and holidays)
