Our first projects began as regular volunteer services at the Women’s health and Hygiene Center (a project of the Archdiocesean Housing Authority) and Mary’s Place (a day shelter for women through the Church of Mary Magdalene) that commenced in the summer of 2000. We have since expanded our services to 6 sites in and outside the Seattle area. AHAC provides healthcare services at a variety of different sites, usually within the framework of an existing structure (a day shelter, a hygiene center, or other service venue), The services we are currently offering are massage therapy, acupuncture, and naturopathic and chiropractic medicine. We are perpetually in the process of establishing more on-site healthcare services at other day programs and shelters, which creates a demand for more volunteer alternative health practitioners.

Hence, we are seeking such practitioners who share in our mission—that access to such services should not be denied to anyone because of income, socioeconomic status, etc.

Alternative healthcare providers can include and are not limited to licensed massage practitioners, acupuncturists, chiropractors, naturopathic doctors,nutritionists, and herbalists just to name a few.
