What is Free Job Month?

During the entire month of June, it is free to post job listings on Idealist!


Normally, all consultants and U.S.-based organizations pay a fee of $60 per job listing, while all other listing types (i.e. volunteer opportunities, internships, events, etc.) are free to post. However, during Free Job Month all listings will be free, including jobs!


Since it is free to post job listings during the month of June, we encourage you to use Idealist for all of your hiring needs – from Executive Assistant to Executive Director, from Development Associate to Chief Financial Officer!

Who can participate in Free Job Month?

All organizations and consultants registered for membership with Idealist are eligible to participate in Free Job Month! Consultants must pay a membership fee to be included in our Consultant Directory ($50/6 months, $95/year). However, organization membership is free!



How do I post a job listing?"

Only those organizations and consultants registered for membership with Idealist may post a listing. Consultants must pay a membership fee to be included in our Consultant Directory ($50/6 months, $95/year). However, organization membership is free!


If your organization or consultancy is already listed on Idealist, you must have access to the account in order to post a job listing.


Once your organization or consultancy is registered and you have access to the account, you can post a listing by following these steps:
  1. Login to your Member Account by visiting www.idealist.org and entering your user email and password into the Member Login box on the right side of the screen.

  2. Click on the "Groups and Listings" tab from your Control Panel.

  3. To the right of your organization’s name click "Edit & Post."
  4. On the next screen you will see your Organization’s Entry & Update Menu. Underneath "Add, edit or delete:" you will see a list of all the types of listings you can post on Idealist. Click the link for the type of listing that you would like to create.

  5. A menu will appear underneath the list. Underneath the tab that says "Active," click "Add New."

  6. On the next page you will be prompted to post a new listing or repost a previous listing.

What are the Idealist job posting policies?"

Before posting a listing on Idealist, please keep in mind the following:

  • We consider it an abuse of our system that a listing be reposted and/or updated solely for the purpose of keeping the listing at the top of our search results or having the listing included again in our email alerts.
  • The archive and repost feature is meant to be used when a position previously posted on our site reopens due to employee turnover or an increased demand for human resources.
  • Listings should only be updated in the event that the job description has changed since the time of posting, or there is missing or incorrect information.
  • Listings are automatically archived on the Last Day to Apply, a maximum of 60 days from the date of posting.
  • Each listing should represent only one opportunity in one location. Moreover, we do not allow duplicate listings for the same opportunity to appear on our site.

Please note: as Free Job Month is only valid during the month of June, no refunds will be given for job listings posted prior to June.



What will happen to my job pack/annual membership during Free Job Month?

Job Packs

Since it is free to post job listings during the month of June, no credits will be subtracted from your job pack! Also, because job packs do not expire, you will be able to use a job pack purchased before June once Free Job Month is over.*


*Please note: no refunds will be given for job packs purchased before June.


Annual Memberships

If you currently have an annual membership, there will be no change in your account – you will still get to post for free!


*Please note: your annual membership will remain active until the original expiration date. No extensions will be granted as a result of Free Job Month.


Will I be able to pay open invoices during June?

No new invoices will be generated for job listings posted during the month of June. However, you will still be able to pay open invoices generated prior to June.*


In fact, if you have an invoice that is more than 45 days old, you will be unable to post during Free Job Month. Thus, we encourage you to pay open invoices so that you don’t miss out on this great opportunity!


*Please note that as Free Job Month is only valid during the month of June, no refunds will be given for job listings posted prior to June.


To view and/or pay for open invoices:
  1. Log in to your account by visiting www.idealist.org and entering your email address and password into the Member Login box on the right side of the screen.

  2. You will be taken to your Control Panel.

  3. Click on the "Groups and Listings" tab and then on "Edit & Post."
  4. You will be taken to your organization’s Entry & Update Menu.
  5. If you have open invoices, you will see "You have one or more open invoices" above the Entry & Update Menu.

  6. Click on the "Please click here to pay for them now" link.
Invoices can be paid online by credit card or by check. You can contact us for further assistance with your invoices.
