How do I find a job on Idealist?

Answer:

There are a number of ways to find job listings on Idealist. The first way is to search our whole site:

1. On the top of any Idealist page you will see our logo and name. To the right of that look for “Search the whole site.” Enter in the field below that some keywords, job titles or locations.
   
2. Click Search.
   
3. On the next screen, the results of the search will be divided by the categories of listings and the numbers of listings that match your search. Click the number next to “Jobs.”
   
4. On the next screen will be a list of all the job listings matching your search.

You can also do a more advanced search of our database of Nonprofit Job Listings:

1. Go to the Idealist.org homepage
2. Click “Find” in the blue part of the Menu at the top of the page.
   
3. On the Find page you will see a list of listings you can search. Click “Nonprofit Jobs.”
   
4. On the next screen you can specify your interests, desired location, language, etc. You can leave these fields empty if you wish.
   
5. Click Submit.
   
6. On the next screen you will see a list of job listings matching your interests.

You can also browse our listings by location.

1. Go to the Idealist.org homepage.
2. Click the blue "Find" tab in the menu at the top of the page.
3. On the Find page you will see a list of listings you can search. Click the name of the type of listing you are interested in.
4. On the right side of the next screen is box titled "Browse all listings by location." Select the geographical region you are interested in.
5. On the next screen you will see all the listings for that location. You may then narrow these results further by selecting a specific country (or state) on the right side of the page. You can then narrow those results further by City.

If you want to find opportunities at a specific type of organization, do the following:

1. Go to the Idealist.org homepage
2. Click “Find” in the blue part of the Menu at the top of the page.
   
3. On the Find page you will see a list of listings you can search. Click “Organizations.”
   
4. Fill in the fields on the next page to narrow your search. You do not have to fill in every field.
   
5. Click Submit.
   
6. On the results page, click the names of the organizations you’re interested in.
   
7. The next page is the organization’s profile. Underneath their profile is a list of the listings they have posted. If they have posted any available jobs, they will be listed here.
   
8. Click the names of the jobs for more information.

Another way to find job listings is to sign up for our Daily Email Alerts. When you sign up you can receive email updates about new nonprofit opportunities including jobs, internships, volunteer opportunities, events, programs, and more based on your preferences (location, area of interest, etc.)

Idealist also allows you to subscribe to RSS Feeds of our listings. To subscribe to an RSS feed of your specific preferences, do the following:

1. Go to the Idealist.org homepage
   
2. Click “Find” in the blue part of the Menu at the top of the page.
   
3. On the Find page you will see a list of listings you can search. Click “Nonprofit Jobs.”
   
4. On the next screen you can specify your interests, availability, desired location, language, age group, etc. You can leave these fields empty if you wish.
   
5. Click Submit.
   
6. On the next screen under “Results found” click the link “Sign up for an RSS Feed for this search.”
   
7. In order to subscribe to this link, you must consult the directions of your web browser or RSS aggregator program.
