How do I change or add a picture of myself?

Answer:

The image you upload for your User Profile will be viewable when other Idealist Members search our site, may also be displayed on other pages throughout our site in our gallery of user images and when you post in our discussion forums. The images you upload must be stored on your computer. We do not allow you to upload images with a hyperlink. Images that are obscene or copyrighted are not allowed on the site; they will be removed without notice and your account may be suspended.

To upload an image, do the following:

  1. Go to the Idealist.org homepage and enter your login information on the right side of the screen. You will be taken to your Control Panel.
  2. Click on the tab "Personal Profiles" and then click on the "edit" link next to "Personal Profile."
  3. In the "Your Photo" field, click on the "Browse" button and select the image you wish to upload from the files on your computer. The image types allowed are .jpg or .gif. We recommend that the size of the image be 168 pixels wide by 126 pixels high, or any proportional size.
  4. Click "Submit" at the bottom of the screen.

Occasionally, after making edits or additions to content on our site, there can be a delay for the updates to appear on the public site (especially in cases of profiles and attached images). Typically, these delays last no longer than a few hours. However, while extremely rare, these delays have been known to persist for up to three days. If, after three days, you continue to experience the same difficulty, please Contact Us.
