Using Idealist Groups

What is an Affinity Group?

Answer:

Affinity Groups are created by people who want to share ideas and resources, get involved in local or global communities, and help create opportunities for others to be involved. They are based on a common location, interest, affinity, or profession.
Affinity Groups can be large or small, local or global, and they can meet face-to-face or work mainly online, but all of them share the following traits:
• They are part of a global network of people with a shared vision to help build a world where all people can live free and dignified lives.
• They uphold some basic rules among their members (no violent or illegal action, and no action against any person or group based on who they are).
• They can be started by one person or by a group of people.
• They can be initiated on Idealist, or simply serve as an online space for a previously existing group
• They can post events, campaigns, volunteer opportunities, and resources on Idealist.
• They can be used to gauge interest and gather support for starting a new organization or project.
