Not Wanted
Date: October 22, 10:17am
Hello,
I am a registered sex offender and now homeless and on the streets. In 2007, I was convicted of online solicitation and I am 100% remorseful for my actions and am repaying my debt to society. I have a degree in Econ and Finance, and have been given a second chance to show that I am a contributing member of society. However, I have encountered some hurdles...my probation transfer was denied because the house I was renting was 1400 feet away from a school and it needed to be 2000 feet. In addition, my travel permit to Oklahoma has been canceled, so I now have no place to go. Homeless shelters wont even take me because they take in women and children.
I hope one day these residency restrictions will be removed because they are just feel good laws and do nothing to stop child molesters.
Another thing I must do is go to Washington DC to go before a hearing committee, to have my job reinstated. In the financial services community, a person cannot be a felon. I can understand why they wouldnt want someone convicted of a financial crim or identity theft, but DUIs, drug charges, etc. are not a threat to the market or investors. Blocking their entrance is a form of extrajudicial punishment.
Okay so I am done ranting. But we need to do something about this section of homeless people.
