Event tonight (and how do we deal with cross-posting?)
Date: September 10, 12:28pm
Hey everyone, I guess this is a question for the listserv/Idealist Group moderators. If we have an individual event we want to invite others to come to, should we post them here as a forum topic or stick to the listserv? For example, I'd love for everyone to come to "The Devil Came On Horseback" tonight at the Avalon Theatre. Any preference as to whether we post in both places, or one or the other?

At any rate, I hope to see some of you tonight. Here's the info from a friend of mine who works at the Holocaust Museum:

Dear Friends,

I am pleased to announce the screening of the film "The Devil Came on Horseback" at the Avalon Theatre on Monday, September 10 th at 8 p.m. Tickets are $9.75 for adults.

Using the photographs and first hand testimony of former U.S. Marine Captain Brian Steidle, "The Devil Came on Horseback" takes the viewer on a journey into the heart of Darfur, Sudan. Brian first presented and showcased his photographs at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and continues to work with the Museum's Committee on Conscience on the crisis in Darfur.

Come meet Jerry Fowler, Director of the Museum's Committee on Conscience, along with Jane Wells, one of the film's producers, and a representative from the Save Darfur Coalition for questions after the film.

Visit the Avalon Theatre's Web site for ticket information: http://www.theavalon.org/ .

---------------------------

Brutal, urgent, devastating -- the documentary "The Devil Came on Horseback" demands to be seen as soon as possible and by as many viewers as possible. An up-close, acutely painful call to action, the movie pivots on a young American, a former Marine captain named Brian Steidle, who for six months beginning in the fall of 2004 worked for the African Union as an unarmed monitor in Darfur. What he saw in Darfur was unspeakable. And then he returned home, his arms, heart and head filled with the images of the dead.

I really don't have a problem wiith cross posting. IIn fact I encourage it. The different DC Groups may have mutual interests and could benefit from finding out what additional resources are out there.
