I'm not sure how long you can be classified as temporary (although I think a pretty long time, but don't try to sell that to unemployment.) Seasonal workers have to be exactly that, seasonal. A year is not a season. The seasonal category usually is written for summer workers and holiday workers, or folks in farm categories.

Hello, I am brand new to Idealist.org. I am not sure if this is the correct forum to post this question. If it is not, please redirect me. I support the Wildlife Center of the North Coast, a volunteer based non-profit Oregon corporation with IRS 501(c)(3) tax exempt status. One of our best volunteers is a high school junior. His father recently committed suicide and his mother is struggling to raise the family on her own. I would like to sponer this volunteer and pay him a stipend for his time at the Wildlife Center, this would enable him to spend more time at the Center, where his help is greatly needed. Is there any way to do this without the Center considering him an employee? Can we create an internship program for high school students to come and work at the Wildlife Center? Do interns have to pay income taxes?

Hi,

I was just wondering what other organizations use for managing volunteers within their organizations. My church has been using CERVIS (www.cervistech.com) and we really love it, but I was just wondering if anyone has had success with a product and would like to share their experience.

Thanks
Sally
