Description:
Over the next two years, three high-profile media products will tell the story of the peace-maker Sergio Vieira de Mello and introduce audiences to the kind of conviction and insight that inspires movements.
THE BOOK
In February, Pulitzer Prize-winning author Samantha Power published the bestseller, Chasing the Flame: Sergio Vieira de Mello and the Fight to Save the World. The paperback version of Power's book is slated for release in December of 2008.
THE FILMS
The book will be followed in 2009 by a compelling feature-length documentary by a renowned documentary filmmaker. A feature film by Oscar-nominated writer and director Terry George, director of Hotel Rwanda, will serve as the final leg of the trilogy.
THE MOVEMENT
In the months ahead, we’ll be using the momentum generated by these media products to embark on a new campaign designed to educate Americans on Sergio’s life and lessons … and using his story to ignite a dynamic constituency that demands a smarter foreign policy for the United States.
Fueled by the trilogy of media projects, this campaign will educate, connect and activate a new constituency using an advanced online presence and a series of offline initiatives including in-person events and media outreach.
How people can help:
First, visit www.chasingtheflame.org, join our email list and take part in our conversation. We want to know your thoughts and your reactions to our authors' perspectives on how Sergio's principles can inform foreign policy today.
