Description:
Position: Intern, Kiva Translation and Editing Program
Location: San Francisco, CA – Downtown/Mission District
Job Type: Volunteer, 20-25 hours per week
Term: 8 months

Job Description: The Kiva Translation and Editing Program works with a team over 300 volunteers on 6 continents to translate, edit, and verify entrepreneur profiles posted to Kiva.org.
As an intern with the Kiva Translation and Editing Program, this individual will play a critical role in bringing on new volunteers and supporting the growth of Kiva’s volunteer programs. They will be the first face of Kiva to new volunteers, and will help welcome them and provide information about Kiva’s volunteer teams. This individual is a self-starter who loves interacting with a wide range of people, is exceptionally organized and detail-oriented, and loves to learn. We're looking for candidates to fill this position in Kiva’s San Francisco headquarters. This is a part-time unpaid position.
Core Tasks:
• Volunteer Recruitment:
o Research recruitment options for a variety of language teams
o Post volunteer recruitment ads online and do outreach
o Assess team size and current recruitment needs
o Identify top recruitment sources
• Volunteer Assessment
o Screen large applicant pool with a wide variety of skill sets
o Coordinate the assessment process for new volunteers
o Track applicants throughout the onboarding process
o Keep Kiva staff up-to-date on new volunteer pool
• Volunteer Community
o Develop content for the Kiva volunteer community’s wiki
o Help create new community engagement initiatives
o Support volunteer events and recognition
• Administrative
o Assist with running reports for the Content Management Team
o Provide support for general administrative tasks as needed
Ideal Candidate:
• Excellent writing skills in English
• Strong skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and web applications (wiki, gmail, Salesforce)
• Superior customer service orientation, both for internal and external audiences
• Great team player
• Excels at keeping information organized and tracking details
• Creative problem-solving skills and curiosity to learn
• Someone with a "ready to help" attitude to make volunteers feel at ease; friendly personality
• Flexible and willing to help as needed
• BA or equivalent degree required
• Competency in a foreign language in Kiva’s portfolio (esp. Spanish, French, Russian) desired
