City Youth Now (CYN) supports youth in the San Francisco foster care and juvenile justice systems by providing funds for services and programs that promote stability and personal growth. Originally founded in 1950, we are the first non-profit organization of our kind in the history of the United States' juvenile court system. Internship Position: City Youth Now Marketing and Public Relations Internship
Dates: Ongoing: September- December 2009 and/or November- March 2010, and/or January- May 2010, and/or June-August 2010

Position Description: Interns will be responsible for multiple aspects of marketing and public relations for City Youth Now including branding, media relations, fundraising efforts, public outreach and advertising strategies for CYN programs and events.
Responsibilities:
• Review, create and edit press releases
• Brainstorm potential angles for the trend pitch
• Send out pitches to appropriate media contacts to gain coverage in high profile San Francisco publications for programs and events.
• Contact in newspapers, magazines, radio and television to have the events benefit listed on community calendars
• Develop written and website-based promotional materials for CYN programs and services, and charitable donations /contributions.
• Develop and implement materials and marketing methods for special fundraising events and new donor recruitment.
• Develop and implement specific approaches to marketing CYN programs and fundraiser events.
Qualifications
• Strong Verbal and Written Communication Skills
• Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within identified timeframes
• Knowledge in using Microsoft Office, Adobe PageMaker / Photoshop, and Dreamweaver
• Prefer candidates to have work experience in PR and Marketing in the Bay Area
• Interest in promoting an agency working with children in the foster care and juvenile justice systems in San Francisco
