Position: Intern, Business Development
Reports to: Director of Development
Location: San Francisco, CA – Downtown/Mission District
Job Type: 6 month unpaid internship position, full time is preferred (min 20 hours per-week)
Job Description: The purpose of the position is to create a system by which Kiva assesses partnership opportunities. The Business Development Intern will not only identify and assess new opportunities, but also be the point of contact with organizations looking to explore a strategic partnership with Kiva. Most importantly, ensure that these opportunities are in line with Kiva’s mission of transparency and would not compromise the Kiva lender’s experience.

Job Responsibilities
• Identify, assess and push new strategic partnership opportunities forward
• Strategize and create new ideas leveraging Kiva’s client database system (i.e. Salesforce)
• Further develop and refine Kiva’s internal new business development approval process and supporter recognition
• Continue to build and reach out to a growing pipeline of organizations regarding partnership opportunities
• Field incoming inquiries and requests for more information and sync up with appropriate Department Head as necessary
• Document, track, and support new and current partnerships as needed
• Build new partner relationships as appropriate
• Research new partnership and funding opportunities
Skills / Qualifications / Experience:
• BA or equivalent degree required
• Ability to plan, organize, and evaluate tasks at hand as well as foresee upcoming creative opportunities
• High level internet community knowledge and computer skills (social media channels, Excel, Powerpoint)
• Consulting background and/or experience in new business development preferred
• Great team player — ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with a wide variety of people
• Experience in grant writing or grant administration a plus
• Superior organizational skills; excellent communication and writing skills
• Strong interpersonal and speaking skills; disciplined, detail oriented, and accountable
• Ability to problem-solve, prioritize, handle a variety of tasks and be self-directed
• Someone with a "ready to help" attitude
• Strong commitment to ethics, honesty, and integrity in conducting business
• Ability to interact effectively with people of other cultures, capacities, and organizations
• Excellent time management skills and a proven track record of managing projects
