Crittenton Women’s Union
Crittenton Women’s Union transforms the course of low-income women’s lives so that they can attain economic independence and create better futures for themselves and their families.
Position Description
• The Children’s Programming Assistant will support Supervisor of Children’s Programming. S/he will help to research, develop and lead enriching activities for the children at the Hastings House, a 58-family shelter in Brighton. Children are ages infant to early teens.
Volunteer duties will include:
• Research and contact potential partners to lead activities
• Assist in coordinating volunteers
• Lead some activities for the children. Activities could include:
• Reading, writing, and/or literacy
• Arts and crafts
• Games and motor skills
• Parent/Child classes and Play Groups
• Help keep the play space clean
Knowledge and Skills Required:
• Passion for and experience with working with children
• Creativity, patience and a good attitude
• Experience working with diverse populations
• Spanish language skills a plus
Shifts Available: 1-3 days per week, with a minimum of 3 hours per day. Very flexible hours. Evenings and weekends available.
Internship level: Undergraduate/Graduate students encouraged to apply.
Pay level: Volunteer/non-paid
