Description:
The Save Darfur Coalition, an advocacy organization located in Washington, D.C., is seeking full time interns for the spring 2010 semester. Founded in 2004, the coalition is an alliance of over 180 human rights, faith-based and civil society organizations working to raise public awareness and mobilize an effective response to the genocide in Darfur. Interns will work closely with the coalition’s staff to provide administrative and programmatic support within the following areas:
Communications
Policy and Government Relations
Campaign Advocacy
Development
Finance and Human Resources
Requirements:
Passion for the work of the Save Darfur Coalition;
Ability to work independently and take initiative when required;
Diplomatic and professional communication skills required;
Strong organizational and time management skills required;
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
Strong research skills;
Excellent interpersonal skills to interact professionally within a diverse community, and
Foreign language skills and international experience preferred, but not necessary.
Interns are unpaid, but may receive college credit if applicable; travel stipends are provided. Interns are expected to dedicate between 20 and 35 hours per week.
