Description:

CHLP is Currently Seeking Legal Interns for Spring 2010.

CHLP provides substantive internships to law students with strong skills in legal analysis and writing.

Although internships are unpaid, CHLP will support applicants' efforts to secure stipends, fellowships, or course credit. In addition, interns will have the opportunity of creating a flexible work schedule that will allow them to work remotely if preferable. Qualified applicants for both full- and part-time internships will be considered.

Intern opportunities include work on the following projects:

* Initiative on Youth in Detention Facilities (Teen SENSE): CHLP's multi-year project to address the rights of adolescents in foster care and detention facilities to comprehensive LGBT-inclusive sexual health programs.
* National HIV Law and Policy Resource Database: Collecting, creating, and synopsizing a wide range of legal and scientific resource materials for CHLP's database of resources.
* Women's Advocacy Resource Collection (WARC): A multidisciplinary initiative to gather and develop accessible resources to increase the capacity and effectiveness of advocacy work by and on behalf of women with HIV across the United States.

Intern Requirements: The applicant must be a law student with excellent analytical skills and the ability to engage in thoughtful and thorough research independently. Moreover, the applicant must be a skilled writer with the ability to describe and analyze their research findings clearly and concisely, and the ability to identify and consider additional issues raised by their findings. Experience or interest in human rights – particularly the rights of minors, women, and racial minorities, and LGBT issues – preferred but not required.

Job start and end dates are flexible.

To apply for an internship, please send the following to internships@hivlawandpolicy.org with the subject heading "Spring 2010 Internship Application."
