Washington, DC Economic Partnership
2010 Winter/Spring Internship Opportunity

The Washington D.C Economic Partnership (WDCEP) is currently seeking interested applicants for internship positions for the winter/spring semester of 2010. Interns will assist in retail development, field research, event set up, and office tasks. There are three different positions available (Research, retail attractive, and Business Development).

Responsibilities:
• Conduct research throughout DC
• Collect and organize Census, BEA, BLS, etc. data on DC
• Update and maintain a database of retail sites throughout DC
• Update and maintain a database of development/construction projects in DC
• Do field research (collect information & take photos) of vacant land, vacant store fronts, and occupied retail throughout DC
• Assist in the setting up of periodic events
• Assist in marketing throughout DC
• Conduct field pictures for development projects
• Assist in planning of various events for the District promoting small businesses
• Research of potential retailers for the district
• Assist in secretarial duties when necessary

• Do meaningful work (no getting coffee)
• Have a greater understanding of the District of Columbia and its neighborhoods
• Great connections with local business owners
• Have a greater understanding of what is required for economic development
• Learn ACT! (a CRM database)
• Learn how to use Co-star (a premier database search used by most real estate brokers)
• Learn how to use ArcView (GIS software)

Requirements
• Must enjoy doing research and collecting data
• Must be able to work at least 24 hours per week
