Description:

"Watching America (WatchingAmerica.com) is an internationally renowned website that translates foreign news about the U.S. from all over the world, to enable Americans to see how they and their policies are perceived globally. Over its five years of existence, it has gained mainstream recognition in the U.S. and abroad and has been talked about, among others, by the BBC, NPR, Foreign Policy Magazine, The Guardian and The Village Voice. It depends on a team of volunteers who benefit from the prestige of the project in developing their careers elsewhere, and who have a passion for the idea of breaking down the final barrier among peoples of the world - the language barrier."

Watching America (www.watchingamerica.com <http://www.watchingamerica.com> ) is currently seeking English content compiler interns. Potential candidates must have an avid interest in international affairs and must be interested in foreign perceptions about the United States. Candidates must be able to work five days a week, for a varying amount of time per day (no more than an hour), for a minimum of six months. Candidates must be willing to communicate on a daily basis with the publisher (Robin Koerner) and the senior editor (Adair Fincher), if necessary.

As an English content compiler, each individual will be responsible for seeking out and publishing articles from the English-language media from assigned (based on interest, if possible) regions/countries of the world. The articles will be about the United States and chosen according to Watching America’s criteria.

Watching America is a “virtual” project. Accordingly, compiling English content can be done from anywhere in the world. While this is an unpaid internship, it allows for flexibility in regards to when an English content compiler works, helps build resumes and comes with an offer of a solid letter of recommendation from Robin Koerner. Further, if a candidate is chosen, there is opportunity, given sufficient ability and commitment, for possible growth within the organization.

Application instructions:

E-mail resume and a short blurb about why you are interested in the position to Robin Koerner (robink@watchingamerica.com).
