Description:

Retention Specialist will be responsible for carrying out strategies designed to enhance the ability of Fortune’s Career Development clients to (1) retain their employment status (2) explore career ladders and future career options. He/She will:
•Utilize a case management approach as well as regular telephone and in-person consultations to help clients address work related problems and issues external to the workplace impacting performance and attendance;
•Conduct bi-weekly trainings and information sessions on topics such as how to deal with workplace conflict, how to overcome workplace stress, how to allocate time, how to deal with difficult bosses, how to respond to employer criticism, how to ask for a raise, how to look for a new job while holding a current one down, how to how to handle external pressures that hamper performance, etc.;
•Develop and update resource binder for use in consultations and in Career Development Resource Room listing various programs and resources available to clients in areas such as education and training, workplace clothing provision, childcare, substance dependency treatment, housing, etc.;
•Make referrals both within and outside Fortune as necessary to provide people with the services that will help them solve outside problems and retain their jobs;
•Engage in career planning with clients on issues of career advancement, career change and exploring educational steps necessary to obtain jobs within career ladders;
•With the assistance of Career Development staff and volunteers, monitor and report on the employment status and salary of Career Development Workshop clients on a monthly basis for a period extending 2 years from the date of completion of their workshop;








Additional Qualifications:

Background in case management with two or more years experience in social work, clinical counseling or similar services – advanced degree preferred;
•Bilingual (English/Spanish) required
•Comfort with MS Office products including electronic databases;
••Ability too work evenings at least three days per week.
