Description:
Part-time Selectors – Teaching Fellows Programs, Multiple Locations
We are currently seeking part-time Selectors for various Teaching Fellows programs across the country. Locations and start dates vary – please see the “to apply” section below for more details.
Teaching Fellows Programs
The New Teacher Project (TNTP) works with districts across the country to create Teaching Fellows programs. We recruit, select, and train high-achieving professionals and recent college graduates from all backgrounds to teach in critical need areas. Fellows go through a rigorous selection process and summer training institute, and will begin teaching in the fall. Most Fellows do not have formal teaching experience, but all have a demonstrated record of past success, subject-matter knowledge, and a commitment to working in our schools.
Selector Role and Responsibilities
Selectors will conduct interviews using the TNTP Selection Model and help shape the next cohort of teachers for their individual district’s alternative route to teaching program. Selectors are required to attend training and work several Interview Days (typically 7-8 hours per event) throughout the selection season (typically December – April).
Specifically, Selectors will be expected to:
• Attend a two hour orientation and complete two to three hours of independent work
• Attend a nine hour training in the city where they will be selecting
• Attend and select at a minimum number of Selection events throughout the season (details provided by the individual site)
• Apply the TNTP Selection Model appropriately in order to make recommendations for who should be selected into the program
• Complete selection paperwork detailing the evidence which supports your recommendations
Additional Qualifications:
Successful applicants to the Selector position will demonstrate strong time management, organizational and communication skills, and a history of high expectations for and success with students and teachers. Ideal candidates will also demonstrate:
• Strong critical thinking skills
• Flexibility and persistence
• The ability to work in a cooperative setting
• Openness and responsiveness to feedback
• Familiarity with high need schools (strongly preferred)
Compensation
Compensation varies from site to site. Selectors can earn $100-$200 per event as well as $150 for training.
How to Apply:
Please go to www.tntp.org/join.html, part-time opportunities, then select your preferred geographic region to view part-time Selector opportunities. Go to the individual listing (these listings will be updated frequently so please check back often) and follow the application instructions. We are not accepting applications online for these positions – applications must be e-mailed to the individual contacts indicated on the specific job listings.
