Description:
People & Systems is assisting a celebrated NYC social service agency with their search for a Finance Director
OPPORTUNITY:
Are you CPA with experience managing complex government contracts? Are you a financial efficiency expert ready to bring years of hands-on systems experience to the finance department for a prestigious ($15 million+) social service agency? Working through the CFO, you will use your expertise to prepare and monitor the agency budget and advise senior staff on variances and/or funding issues. In addition you will compile data and supporting schedules for external filings, maintain schedules; prepaid expenses, fixed assets, depreciation, deferred grant revenue and pension contributions. Based on review of audit and accounting standards you will provide financial advice to the CFO, coordinate annual audit activities and prepare in advance all supporting schedules, develop and oversee all recurring and non-recurring PS cost allocations and provide supervision to the contracts administration team in reviewing the development of contract/grant budgets.
Additional Qualifications:
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Business Administration and a CPA coupled with 6+ years of progressive responsibility for the financial management of a nonprofit with some level of performance-based and/or cost-recovery government contracts. Excellent team building, conflict resolution and supervisory skills along with ability to interact professionally with Senior Management, program directors, and designated contacts at outside city, state and federal government organizations are a must. Knowledge of Fund EZ and/or similar nonprofit finance management software is required.
