Description:

The Communications Specialist will be responsible for management and production of communications materials for all Institute departments. This is an entry level position.
This will include, but not be limited to the following:
* Identify needs for brochures, flyers, advertisements and web-based promotional materials.
* Develop and produce print materials, including brochures, mailings and flyers.
* Serve as webmaster for Institute sites, maintaining and updating content as needed. Assist with content development for Institute websites.
* Recommend and implement marketing opportunities for health centers and programs in concert with program staff.
* Develop and implement strategies to enhance the Institute's web presence, including the use of Web 2.0 technologies and social networking sites
* Keep materials up to date; including tracking and reordering printed materials; and arranging for printing and delivery.
* Keep stock of press materials accessible including public relations folders and health education materials at centers.
* Photograph Institute employees and activities as needed for promotional materials.





Additional Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must have the following:
* Bachelors or Associate degree; demonstrated relevant work, internship, or volunteer experience.
* Strong graphic and layout skills - print and web portfolio requested.
* Proficiency in industry-standard graphic and web design software applications, including Quark and Dreamweaver.
* Proficient in standards-based web design and management, including HTML and CSS. Advanced web development skills (PHP, SQL, JavaScript, etc.) preferred.
* Up to date on the latest use of web-based communications methods
* Strong project, people and time management skills: demonstrated ability to think independently and manage multiple priorities for multiple internal clents.
* Good judgment and maturity, ability to make decisions, justify recommendations, and be responsive and clear.
* Demonstrated efficiency and quick turnaround.
* Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment, as well as work autonomously on specific projects.
