Success Charter Network is an ambitious charter management network of four high-performing charter schools in New York City. Over the next decade, our network will grow to 40 schools that provide access to high-quality education to children throughout New York City.

In 2006, Success Charter Network launched our flagship school, Harlem Success Academy Charter School. With the opening of three additional schools in 2008, we are currently serving more than 1,500 students. We plan to launch three new schools in the fall of 2010 that all provide academically rigorous and well-rounded instruction in historically underserved communities.

Envision excellence
Our faculty, scholars and families are committed to excellence. In 2009, 100% of Harlem Success third graders passed the NYS math exam, with 71% achieving the top score of "4," ranking the school #1 out of all public charters in the state. 95% of Harlem Success third graders passed the NYS English Language Arts exam, with nearly a quarter achieving the top score of "4," ranking the school #2 out of all public charters in the state.

Position description
We are looking for a results-driven, highly organized Director of Human Resources to strategically guide our recruitment, personnel development, and general human resources program. Our Director of Human Resources will help lead the ambitious effort to open three new Success Academies set to launch in Fall 2010, while continuing to expand our current network of four schools. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the person in the position of Director of Human Resources will:

* Manage full life cycle recruiting and direct recruitment activities including advertising and screening.
* Support and enable the organization by providing expertise on all HR aspects of the organization. Partner with the senior management team to ensure that human resource programs, goals, and priorities are aligned with the needs of the organization.
* Provide leadership in the creation of a winning culture and driving employee engagement.
* Build, enhance and direct the management of all human resources practices including talent acquisition, retention and development, employee relations, performance management, human resources planning and organizational development, employee communication, compensation, benefits and training.
* Partner with school leaders and network directors to develop strategies for recruiting and retaining top employees.
* Advise on best practices to achieve excellent results while maintaining compliance with employment requirements.
* Manage full life cycle recruiting and direct recruitment activities including advertising and screening.
* Manage performance evaluation system and process to ensure accountability and results-orientation.
* Manage new employee orientation, ensuring submission of completed paperwork.
* Direct and guide termination process, collect company assets, manage exit interview process.
* Participate in senior management meetings and attend other departmental meetings as necessary.
* Ensure compliance with labor law requirements, postings, compliance logs, etc.




Additional Qualifications:

Our Director of Human Resources will be a people-person with a demonstrated track record of achieving ambitious goals. S/he is an excellent manager who has professional poise and exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Successful candidates will be extremely organized, and be comfortable with a heavy workload. Ideally, our Director of Human Resources has at least 5-7 years of experience, including 2-3 years in a managerial/supervisory role, as this person will manage up to 7 highly qualified individuals. A sense of humor is required.
