Description:

Contribute to solving homelessness by placing chronic street homeless into permanent housing and acheiving a 2/3 census reduction in Manhattan by 12/31/2009. The CD will be responsible for outreach and housing placement activities in nearly 20% of Manhattan. The CD will work collaboratively with Manhattan Outreach Consortium providers and other relevant stakeholders to develop strategies and systems for achieving goal. As a member of the senior staff team, the CD will provide leadership within the S2H program and will help to inform decision making and to implement various policies and procedures. Oversee a staff of 9 to ensure M-F 5:30 am to 5:30 pm outreach and housing placement coverage, with a focus on housing placement for the chronically homelessness. Also oversees responsiveness to community 311 calls. Responsible for building solid relationships with other outreach area directors, night/weekend teams, Manhattan Consortium director, Brooklyn and Queens Outreach area directors, Central Intake, Safe Haven, and Scatter-site programs. Director must be able to thrive equally in relationships with senior city government officials and people who have lived on the streets for 30+ years with severe disabilities.

Duties:
Management of an 8-10 member unit
Active participation in senior staff team
Develop outreach strategies to identify street homeless and close encampments and "hot spots"
Ensure unit meets housing placement targets
Work closely with MOC Director and providers towards goals and adherance to MOC policies
Engaging the community stakeholders
Qualifications:
5 years supervisory experience preferred; 3 years working with the homeless preferred
superior analytical ability, organization skills, proven operational manager, ability to juggle multiple priorities, and create a climate conducive to effective engagement with disabled clients
BA. Advanced degree (MBA, MPA, MSW) strongly preferrerd
basic computer proficiency required
Ability to conduct street outreach
