Central States SER-Jobs for Progress is currently accepting applications for:
PODER LEARNING FACILITATOR
(25 hours/week, 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., no benefits)
DUTIES: The PODER (Positive Outcomes Delivered through Education and Respect) Learning Facilitator is a professional/staff development position, which is primarily responsible for the development and effective facilitation of the PODER Curriculum to 3rd-8th graders. This position reports to the Site Coordinator.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Baccalaureate degree in education, psychology or related field is preferred. Individuals with more than 60 college credit hours will be considered along with their employment history.
2. Desire to work with ALL children.
3. Familiarity with criteria for quality after school programs, Supplemental Educational Services (SES), and the youth development philosophy toward engaging children.
4. Ability to dissect and translate research information.
5. Strong public speaking and group facilitation skills.
6. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with school district staff, parents, community members, public officials, and private sector officials.
7. Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate sensitivity to others.
8. Excellent writing and organizational skills.
9. Proficiency in computer applications.
10. Familiarity with training technology and equipment.
11. Bilingual/bicultural (Spanish) a plus.
12. Access to a vehicle and valid Illinois Driver’s License required.
13. Willingness to travel to off-site meetings, trainings, and events and work flexible hours (including some Saturdays) required.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. To design, plan, and facilitate academic tutorials customized for groups of 8-15 students.
2. To advise the Site Coordinator as to what supplies, materials, and other forms of support are needed for day-to-day activities.
3. To supervise all PODER participants to ensure a safe and organized program.
4. To assist with the planning and facilitation of special projects and events.
5. To attend staff development workshops.
6. To perform other duties as assigned.
