Description:
• Develop suitable Retail Sector opportunities based on client skills, background and levels of education;
• Facilitate the National Retail Federations Customer Service Certification workshop and administer the test;
• Conduct ongoing market research to determine areas of employer demand;
• Conduct site visits to assess the effectiveness and appropriateness of clients while on the job;
• Hold regular drop-in office hours to counsel clients who have concerns or need guidance;
• Market the clients and services of Fortune's Career Development Unit to business and industry through regular
mailings, phone calls and in-person meetings;
• Create partnerships with employers to allow for regular and ongoing placement of Fortune Clients;
• Match clients returning to Career Development for counseling with new positions whose salary and responsibility reflect their level of work experience and/or particular employment needs or situations;
• Monitor ongoing customer satisfaction with placements and services;
• Conduct information sessions for Fortune Clients on employer demands;
• Performance Requirements: First-time placement of 65 graduates into areas of Retail Employment
• Of the 65 placements, the Employment Specialist must place at least 35 clients in Retail jobs with a wage of, at least,$9.00 per hour;
Additional Qualifications:
• Two or more years of proven experience as a job developer with a similar population and HS diploma or GED required; some college or equivalent work experience preferred.
• Existing contacts with business and industry job bank with at least 35 company contacts;
• Experience presenting to business and industry;
• Experience working with and placing similar populations;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills;
• Ability to use MS Office/MS Word to conduct mailings, issue reports, etc.;
• Ability to use electronic databases to record placements;
• Business experience desirable
